The 9th Past Pupils’ Meet of Don Bosco College, held on 26th January 2025, was a successful gathering of alumni, students, and faculty. The event featured inspiring speeches, the distribution of scholarships, and lively performances. The newly elected office bearers for the Don Bosco Past Pupil Association are Mr. Pounraj (President), Mr. Alex Michealraj (Vice President), Mr. Franklin (Secretary), Ms. M. Keerthana (Vice Secretary), and Mrs. Joe Shruthi (Treasurer) and council members. The meet fostered a strong sense of pride and connection among all attendees. The program coordinated by Local delegate Rev. Fr. Thiviya Alex and coordinator Dr. M. Sivasankari and past pupils office bearers.
A two-day skill development training on “Advanced Techniques for Smartphone Troubleshooting”
The Department of Computer Applications and Don Bosco Computer Academy (DBCA) at Don Bosco College of Arts and Science, Keela Eral, Thoothukudi, successfully organized an MOU signing ceremony followed by a two-day skill development training on “Advanced Techniques for Smartphone Troubleshooting” on January 29th and 30th, 2025. The event, led by Dr. B. Krishna Kumar, Founder & CEO of New Technology, Coimbatore, provided valuable hands-on training in smartphone repair techniques. The MOU with New Technology marks a new chapter in enhancing industry-academia collaboration, offering students practical skills for future careers in the tech industry.
76th Republic Day Celebrations
The grandeur of the 76th Republic Day unfolded at Sacred Heart College on the 26th of January 2025, uniting the Salesian community, dedicated faculty, and enthusiastic students in a celebration of patriotism and unity. To ensure wider participation, the event was live-streamed on the college’s official YouTube Channel. The festivities commenced with the rendition of the Thamizhthai Vazhthu, setting the stage for a memorable occasion. Lieutenant Major Dr. K. Sivakumar, extended a warm welcome to the gathering and introduced the esteemed Chief Guest, Rev. Dr. Maria Arockiaraj, Additional Principal, Shift II, Sacred Heart College. The Chief Guest graciously accepted the Guard of Honour and delivered an inspiring message on the importance of collective responsibility in preserving the values of the constitution. He urged everyone to combat corruption and contribute to the nation’s progress.
The NCC Cadets showcased their discipline and precision through a captivating contingent drill. The celebration emphasized the critical role of every citizen in safeguarding the democratic principles of the country and highlighted the importance of integrity, accountability, and active participation in nation-building. The event concluded with expressions of gratitude in the Vote of Thanks and the resonating strains of the National Anthem. The entire Salesian community, along with the teaching and non-teaching staff and students, actively participated in this culturally significant event.
Retirement Function
The retirement function of three esteemed faculty members of Sacred Heart College, Dr. L. Ravi, Dr. S. Sagayaraj, and Rev. Dr. K.A. Maria Arokiaraj was conducted with great respect and admiration on January 25, 2025, at 10 a.m. in Kamarajar Arangam The event was organized by the college to honour their remarkable contributions to the institution The ceremony began with a prayer service led by Rev. Dr. Bharathi Bernard shaw, the Campus Minister. This was followed by the welcome address by Rev. Dr. Praveen Peter, SDB, Rector & Secretary of Sacred Heart College and felicitation of the retirees. A video presentation highlighting the achievements and contributions of the retirees was presented.
Dr. L. Ravi, serving as Vice Principal (Academics) for Shift-I and Head of the Department of Computer Science, expressed his gratitude for the opportunities he had to contribute to the academic and personal growth of the students. Dr. S. Sagayaraj, Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science, shared his experiences and appreciation for Sacred Heart College. Rev. Dr. K.A. Maria Arokiaraj, serving as Additional Principal for Shift-II and PG Head of the Department of English, spoke about his journey as a teacher. The event featured captivating cultural performances, including a dance and a medley by the college choir team. The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Mr. J. John Arokiaraj, Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science.
Pongal Celebrations
Tirupattur, Sacred Heart College (Autonomous) celebrated Pongal with traditional fervour on January 11, 2025, at 10.15 a.m. in the college grounds blending culture and festivity. The event brought together students from diverse backgrounds, including international and out-of-state participants, fostering unity and cultural pride. The celebration showcased the richness of Tamil heritage and the joy of the harvest season. The Chief Guest Ms. Bharathi Vijayalakshmi, the Secretary Rev. Dr. Praveen Peter, and principal Rev. Dr. D. Mary Antony Raj, were welcomed in a decorated traditional bullock cart procession from the college entrance. Ms. Bharathi Vijayalakshmi, Assistant Director of Rural Development, Tirupattur, delivered the keynote address, appreciating the college’s efforts in promoting tradition.
Students, including those from other states and countries, dressed in traditional Tamil attire, prepared Pongal in clay pots while chanting “Pongalo Pongal.” Cultural performances, games, and competitions added excitement to the event, with enthusiastic participation. Prizes were distributed by the chief guest to winners of various competitions. The event concluded with faculty and students celebrating the spirit of unity and cultural pride.
St. Don Bosco Feast Celebration On 31 January 2025
On January 31st, the Don Bosco College community came together to celebrate the Feast of Don Bosco with a special mass. Students from all streams participated, creating a vibrant atmosphere of unity and devotion. Fr. Joaquim Lobo, the Director of Don Bosco College, celebrated the mass and delivered a heartfelt homily.
After the mass, the celebrations continued with a creative touch. The Life Skills Committee organized a Bookmark Making Competition to honour Don Bosco’s legacy of creativity, faith, and service. This competition was a perfect blend of reflection on Don Bosco’s values and student creativity, making the Feast Day celebrations even more special.
Don Bosco College, Panjim collaborates with CCP for Clean-up Drive
On the morning of January 30, 2025, a beach clean-up drive was organised by Club Ecotiva of Don Bosco College, Panjim, in collaboration with the Corporation of the City of Panjim. The event took place at Campal Beach, a popular coastal area that attracts locals and tourists alike.
Over 50 students of Don Bosco College, volunteers from the CCP, Feedback Foundation and local residents came together to make a difference. The initiative was aimed at tackling the disposal of plastic and other non-biodegradable waste along the Mandovi River, which poses a serious threat to marine life. The clean-up helped reinforce the message that small actions, when done collectively, can bring about a significant change in the environment. The collaboration between Don Bosco College and the CCP, Panjim set a great example of community-driven efforts to conserve the local environment.
DBC Organises Colossus XII: A Techno-Fest of Innovation and Collaboration
Don Bosco College hosted the 12th edition of Colossus, a two-day inter-collegiate IT fest, attracting enthusiastic participation from eight teams representing seven colleges across Goa, on January 21st and 22nd, 2025. Colossus XII provided a platform for students to showcase their technical prowess, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
The inaugural ceremony witnessed the esteemed presence of Mr. Irshad Sen, Co-Founder at Achieve Academy and MD & Co-Founder at RKS Inno Group, as the Chief Guest. A significant milestone was achieved during the ceremony with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Don Bosco College and Achieve Academy. Team Tech Titans from Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College & Research Center, Assagao, Goa, emerged as the overall winners, while Team Code Crackers from St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa, Goa, secured the runners-up position.
Don Bosco College Mampetta Hosts Blood Stem Cell Donor Registration Drive
On 24th January 2025, Don Bosco College Mampetta organized a Blood Stem Cell Donor Registration Drive in collaboration with its Red Ribbon Club (RRC) and NSS Unit 321. The event, held at Savio Hall from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM, aimed to raise awareness about the life-saving potential of stem cell donation. Conducted by DATRI Blood Stem Cell Donors Registry, the drive encouraged students and faculty to register as potential blood stem cell donors, highlighting the importance of donation in treating blood disorders like leukemia and thalassemia.
The initiative received an enthusiastic response, with many students volunteering to register as donors. NSS and RRC members played an instrumental role in spreading the message of “Act Now, Gift a Life,” reinforcing the impact such donations can have on the lives of those in need. The college expressed its sincere gratitude to DATRI, the organizing teams, and all the participants for making the event a success and furthering the cause of health and humanity.

The event was inaugurated by Master Rithuraj, renowned for his performances on Flowers Top Singer and Sony TV, who mesmerized the audience with his presence and inspiring words. From electrifying stage performances to stunning artistic showcases, every moment of the festival radiated energy and passion.
