Whether it’s flood or pandemic, or anything for that matter, nothing can deter the social consciousness of the students of Don Bosco College Angadikadavu. The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of the college won the Best NSS Unit Award in 2019-2020 from Kannur University, Kerala for their philanthropic works. The Best NSS Programme Officer Award and the Best NSS Volunteer Award are won by Nithinkuttan PK and Akhil Devasia respectively. Similarly, the NSS Unit won awards in the academic year 2017-2018. The Don Bosco NSS Unit has 100 student volunteers and two programme officers. The various programmes aim to instil the idea of social welfare in students and service to society. The college has built three homes, Snehaveedu, for the needy in three consecutive years.
The student volunteers are at the forefront in the education of tribal youth, relief-works during the floods and the pandemic, organic farming, free food distribution for the children in orphanages, anti-tobacco and anti-drugs campaigns, and awareness workshops for various stakeholders.
